Acclaimed Filipino performer Lea Salonga is officially set to be immortalized on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, joining the 2025–2026 class of honorees under the Live Theatre/Performance category. The announcement was made on July 3 by the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF), which proudly nominated her for the distinction.

A household name in both the Philippines and on the international stage, Salonga is known for her groundbreaking performance as Kim in Miss Saigon, a role that earned her a Tony Award and thrust her into Broadway history. She has since continued her stellar career with celebrated roles in Les Misérables, Allegiance, and Once on This Island, among many others.

Reacting to the news, Salonga expressed her delight in a social media post:

“Just now woke up to this bit of amazing news!!!”

With this latest achievement, Salonga becomes the first Filipino artist based in the Philippines to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She joins a distinguished group of Filipino heritage recipients including Rob Schneider, Bruno Mars, and Apl.de.Ap, who is also among this year’s inductees.

Salonga is also well-known to generations of Disney fans as the singing voice of two iconic princesses namely Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan in the film of the same name. For her contributions to Disney, she was named a Disney Legend in 2011.

The upcoming class of Walk of Fame honorees includes a star-studded lineup such as Emily Blunt, Rachel McAdams, Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, and the legendary music group Air Supply.

Located in Los Angeles, California, the Hollywood Walk of Fame recognizes artists across five major entertainment categories: motion pictures, television, recording, radio, and live performance. Receiving a star is considered one of the highest honors in the entertainment industry.
